"Tribute to Jack Briggs" Pendleton Blanket

Your purchase of this blanket directly benefits the

American Indian College Fund, which supports thousands

of students.

This robe blanket was created in honor of Ojibwa legend Lester

"Jack" Briggs. He lived a childhood of institutionalized racism,

yet dedicated himself to building bridges between Indians and

non-Indians. He helped create the only schoolin the nation

organized as both a state community college and a tribal

college. This blanket's design is based on traditional Ojibwa

beadwork, its colors reflecting the trade beads used by the

tribe. The central asymmetrical pattern represents flowers and

vines. The border symbolizes the sky dome and stars.
